![]() I didn’t understand how Maggie was able to go back to the Hilltop not under guard. It didn't help that entire episode felt like it was an editing nightmare, full of missing scenes. While this makes sense in hindsight, I am willing to bet this flew over a lot of people's heads, as it did mine, because of how disjointed the timeline was. It also explains why he was writing a note to his dad, why he stayed behind and offered himself up to Negan to be executed, because he knew he was dead already. That's why he was staggering around Alexandria, not just because of Negan's grenades, but also because he was a day into a bite. But in actuality, Carl was bit in the woods when he was helping Siddiq clear those walkers two episodes ago. I was extremely confused about what happened next until it was explained to me, but I thought Siddiq said "I carried him here" and then Carl says "that's when it happened," meaning that Carl had somehow been bitten in the sewer offscreen. It’s a strange scene, because though Carl was somewhat hurt and disoriented when we saw him wandering, we literally last left him hiding in the sewer. The final shot of the episode is of the Alexandria residents safe in the sewer, but at the end of the tunnel is Carl, who reveals a bite on his stomach meaning it can’t be cut off and he’s without question going to die, unless the show has decided it’s time to spring a “hey certain people are immune” twist on us at the last second. ![]()
